Meet Veronica Carla

Moving to LA from Brazil, Veronica Carla comes from a musical family where no Sunday lunch was a real Sunday lunch without some music blasting through the speakers. Aware of her talents, her family would often rent karaoke so she could sing with the microphone at family parties since she was 3 years old. After school, she would spend her time watching MTV, unaware that time was flying by as she cultivated her tastes through Gwen Stefani, Green Day, Black Eyed Peas, Lady Gaga, P!nk, Shania Twain, Alanis Morissette, and Coldplay. It wasn’t until she was a little older that she came across Lana Del Rey.  Listening to "Blue Jeans" for the first time was a kind of spiritual awakening… Veronica knew what she had to do.

“I knew what I wanted. I wanted to make music that felt like that song, that felt like whatever Lana felt. There was no questioning that ever since I was a kid, I have always liked being on the edge. With all the songs and the styles, as well as my personality that would often come off with a big sass, it did not take long for me to start deciding for myself and creating my own taste that really shines through what I envision for my career now.”

Veronica quotes, “I think I enjoy being questioned about my sanity or questioned if I should be saying/doing/posting certain things. I want to release more music in this indie/pop style, but lately I have been leaning towards some sort of funky folk (weird, I know). Still, I like the idea of fake fur, some crazy eyeliner, lace, and going on stage to make people feel something through these Hollywood 70’s vibes I am trying to bring back.”

She expresses fear of not being able to make her art truly what she wants it to be, simply to fit into some idea that would make it sellable. “I am afraid that as I get older, I will start to think conformity will feed my soul more than being truthful to the million stars inside my chest.”

While staying true to her nature and art, she decided to release the first two singles of her career: Addiction and All Daughters. The former encapsulates Veronica’s rock and edgy side, while the latter is a ballad about going through a hangover.
